Meaning: (A Cloud, Fountain, His Eye, Place of Springs, A place having “a great quantity of water” available, where John the Baptizer performed immersions after the Passover of 30 C.E. (John 3:23) It was near the apparently better known place named Salim. The exact locations of these places are uncertain; however, Eusebius, bishop of Caesarea in the third and fourth centuries C.E., indicates a location in the Jordan Valley about 8 Roman miles (12 km; 7.5 mi) S of Beth-shean. In this area is Tell Ridgha (Tel Shalem), tentatively identified with Salim. Nearby are several springs that might fit Eusebius’ description of the place called Aenon. )
Origin: (Biblical, Greek, Hebrew)
Pronunciation: (Ae′non, ee-non, NOTE: the A is Silent, it is said like enon)
Gender: Male
This is my third favorite name on my list of favorite male names. It could be mispronounced quite often because people will not know the A is silent when pronouncing it. But I just love the name and the meaning. It is another favorite biblical name. In a novel I would say use this name caustiously as the look and constant mispronouncing of the name by the reader will likely infuriate the reader and they will stop reading. Perhaps give the character a nickname and Aenon be there full name or put in a glossary and tell the reader how it is said.
Character Naming
As an Author naming your Character is an important step right after coming up with the plot. I am here to help you choose the right character name for you and your story.
Make sure your character name is Genre Appropriate. Make sure if it's a Historical Fiction novel or takes place in a real time period that the name was used then. Or if it's a fictionalized place then you can be as creative as you wish.
Just have fun with naming your character. It is after all your story.
