Character Naming

As an Author naming your Character is an important step right after coming up with the plot. I am here to help you choose the right character name for you and your story.

Make sure your character name is Genre Appropriate. Make sure if it's a Historical Fiction novel or takes place in a real time period that the name was used then. Or if it's a fictionalized place then you can be as creative as you wish.

Just have fun with naming your character. It is after all your story.

Daelyn / Daylin

Meaning: (Valley, Small Valley, Variant of Dale, Transferred use of the surname, which is from the Old English dael (dale, hollow, valley). The name originated as en la Dale or de la Dale and was indicative of a person who lived “in the dale.”)

Origin: (Old English, English)

Pronunciation: (DEYEHLahN, DAY-lin)

Gender: Uni-Sex

I was looking up the name Kestra *see on list of posts* and this person was asking about middle names to go with Kestra. They asked about Daelyn. I really came to like the name Daelyn. I have added names to the blog that have similar meanings. This is a nice name with decent meanings.

    Hi, I discovered this blog when I was searching for the name "Fairamay".

    I like Daylin a lot. It's my first time seeing this name. Daelyn however confuses me, as most "ae" vowel combos do. I love the letter "y" though, it just adds more shape and dimension to physical look of the word.

      I am glad you found my blog, I hope it was helpful. I actually prefer names with an AE combo but I can see where some might not care for it. Recently I have two characters with AE in them the first is Daemon and the second is Ismae. I think different spellings can alter a reaction to them, for good or bad. Anyway glad you like the name Daylin.
