Character Naming

As an Author naming your Character is an important step right after coming up with the plot. I am here to help you choose the right character name for you and your story.

Make sure your character name is Genre Appropriate. Make sure if it's a Historical Fiction novel or takes place in a real time period that the name was used then. Or if it's a fictionalized place then you can be as creative as you wish.

Just have fun with naming your character. It is after all your story.

    1. I am glad you like the surname Riverdale and that you found my blog useful and thanks for letting me know as I love to hear from visitors to my blog!

Marin Riverdale is a fine name. At first I wasn’t sure about the gender. It seems a female name to me but upon looking it up it is a Uni-Sex name, so either for a boy or girl it seems good. It reminds me of Marina minus the A at the end.

So that brings me to the pronunciation. I found myself pronouncing it one of the popular ways MAIR-in but another I found is MAR-in. However I didn’t find my preferred personal pronunciation which is mah-REEN, but only because I think Marina minus A but that’s just me. But of the popular most known pronunciations I like MAIR-in paired with Riverdale as it has a mysterious Elfish ring to it but also rings pretty for a normal person!

Marin and Marina and a few others come from the Latin Marinus “Of the Sea” which is gorgeous. So first name Marin and last name Riverdale together would be “Of the Sea River Valley” which is absolutely beautiful, strong and brings an even greater charm to the names even if you are the only one who knows what the names mean. Half the time I choose names I might be the only one who knows the meaning of and that it plays a big role in my choosing a name.

Marin Riverdale is pretty, strong, and bold no matter the gender and whether this is for a characters name, name change, or baby name it’s a great choice, I really mean it!

If you care to you can share, in the comment section of this post, the reason for the name as I always love to hear how ones choose names!

Thanks again for visiting my blog! Please come back and check it out again! I hope I helped and wasn’t too long winded in my reply, lol.

      Happy Writing! / Happy Naming!

I try to have the most accurate Meanings, Origin and Pronunciations for the names on this blog. It is best though to do research into the names you decide to use for your characters as there can be errors on my blog. Or meanings, origins, and pronunciations I have not seen thus not been able to add to this blog.
