Character Naming

As an Author naming your Character is an important step right after coming up with the plot. I am here to help you choose the right character name for you and your story.

Make sure your character name is Genre Appropriate. Make sure if it's a Historical Fiction novel or takes place in a real time period that the name was used then. Or if it's a fictionalized place then you can be as creative as you wish.

Just have fun with naming your character. It is after all your story.

Nala or Nahla

Meaning: (Nala: Stem, Hollow Reed, Successful, Olive, Queen, Gift. Nahla: A Draught, A Drink Of, Drink of Water.)

Origin: (African, Swahili, Sanskrit, Latin, Arabic)

Pronunciation: (Nah-lah, NAH-lə)

Gender: Female

Now Nala is said to be a variant of Nahla but as you see there meanings are very different and Nahla is said to be mainly from Arabic origin and Nala of African origin. Either way they seem to have the same pronunciation and look. Oh what a difference one little letter can make, lol. I was watching The Lion King the other day as it was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. The lioness that was friends with Simba and later his mate was named Nala. I love the way it is pronounced and how it looks and the meaning. As for using this as a character name I think this name can work for an exotically pretty character.

    1. Oh Cool! I have never heard of anyone who was actually named Nahla. It's definitely a pretty name so I was sure some people were named this.

I'm just curious but why did your parents decide to name you Nahla?

I try to have the most accurate Meanings, Origin and Pronunciations for the names on this blog. It is best though to do research into the names you decide to use for your characters as there can be errors on my blog. Or meanings, origins, and pronunciations I have not seen thus not been able to add to this blog.
