Meaning: (God’s Gift, Gift of God, Lady Godiva (1002 – 1066, 11th century), was an Anglo-Saxon noblewoman who, according to legend, rode naked, covered only by her long hair, through the streets of Coventry, England in order to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation imposed by her husband on his tenants. The name "Peeping Tom" for a voyeur originates from later versions of this legend in which a man named Tom had watched her ride and was struck blind or dead. I have loved the name Godiva for a long while now. I love the ancientness to the name and the meaning but I think the story about Lady Godiva is pretty cool. I think this is a beautiful name. I could see this fitting alongside Maerwynn *See on list of posts* and they could fit in a fantasy novel. They both resemble names in novels like Lord of the Rings or so I think they do.
