Maerwynn

Meaning: (Maer=Who Illuminates, Wynn=Friend, Fair, White)

Origin: (Old English, Welsh)

Pronunciation: (MARE-win)

Gender: Female

I found this name and it was not very common. I love it, it reminds me of a character name from Lord of the Rings or something. It's very old world and has a 1500's feel to it.

  2. I don't think the pronunciation is correct. If the name is of Welsh origin, wouldn't it be pronounced "My-er-win"?

  3. I haven't been checking my comments lately so sorry for late reply. Every pronunciation I can find I put up here. MARE-win was the only one at the time of writing this post back in 2011 I could find. I'm afraid Welsh names though pretty often trip me up on pronouncing them lol but I will do some research and see if I can find more pronunciations. Thanks for sharing the pronunciation as My-er-win! Also thanks for commenting!
